Stabilizer Fin and Winglet
Not only is LAST WHALE the newest Whaleback ever offered on the brokerage market, she is also one of just a handful of Grand Saloon models ever built. She has been cruised almost entirely on the Chesapeake Bay. She has a 2 stateroom / 2 head layout with an amazingly large saloon and galley. The Whaleback offers the ultimate in interior liveability and accommodation along with trans-oceanic capability all in a very manageable hull. LAST WHALE offers everything you need for long range cruising or living aboard.
Solid hand laid PPG combo mat fiberglass below the waterline with closed cell P.V.C. sandwich core used in the topsides for thermal and sound insulation. End grained balsa-cored superstructure, pilothouse and boat deck. Core mat is also used to reduce print-through. Vinylester resin used in first two laminates below the waterline for osmotic protection. Marine plywood bulkheads and multiple fiberglass hat stringers ensure an extremely rigid hull. Top notch construction, superior owner support and limited production are why Krogen's maintain superior resale value.
The Grand Saloon is entered through double weather tight doors from the aft fully covered cockpit (back porch). The entrance way has a Phantom Screen (2020) and the aft bulkhead has the optional opening window. To port aft is the entertainment center which includes an HDTV with a soundbar and subwoofer along with open bookshelf and cabinet storage. Also on the port side are 2 Ekornes stressless chairs and ottomans. On port & starboard walls are Imtra Maia style articulating arm 110 volt wall lights. On the starboard side is an L-shaped settee with 4 large storage lockers under. Forward is cabinet and drawer storage, and a breakfast nook that seats 2. The free-standing hi-lo expandable table can seat up to 8 comfortably. There are teak valances and curtains (2019) on the large port and starboard saloon windows and on the optional aft bulkhead window. All windows open for great cross ventilation and are equipped with both insect & sun screens. The fitted carpeting throughout LAST WHALE was replaced in 2019.
The large open-faced galley is located on the starboard side forward of the saloon, and has all the amenities necessary for gourmet meals afloat. Major components include:
The master stateroom is located forward. It features a centerline island queen
The master stateroom head is located on the port side of the stateroom. It has a Sealand VacuFlush fresh water head (vacuum generators were upgraded in 2018), and stall shower with bi-fold shower door, Corian counter top, mirrored medicine cabinet and an opening screened port.
The guest stateroom is to port, forward of the saloon. There is a large L-shaped settee that converts to a queen-size berth, pullman berth, desk and drawers, book shelves, hanging locker and a large opening window.
The guest/day head is opposite the guest stateroom and has a large stall shower, VacuFlush fresh water head, medicine cabinet and opening port.
The guest head also houses the GE stack washer and dryer.
In addition to offering 360 degree visibility, the pilothouse is another living area whether underway or at anchor. There is a large L-shaped settee / dinette that converts to a double berth, wet bar, GE beverage center (2019), Stidd helm seat, aluminum Dutch side doors port and starboard and large opening windows with screens. A full Portuguese Bridge protects the walkway around the Pilothouse.
