Description

Although the Nordhavn 40' is the smallest of their fleet it was built to stand up to the rigors of circumnavigation.  Onward is proof that this yacht can stand the test of time.  Lovingly maintained by her current owner, she is a great liveaboard yacht with great storage inside and outside.  She is ready for her next owner to take her around the world or just over to the Bahamas.

Manufacturer Provided Description

The part of the hull structure that is submerged in the water is made using a fiberglass that’s solidly laminated with transverse, longitudinal and full-length network of stringers. For more protection during collisions, extra laminates are featured on forward sections, as well as watertight bulkheads and required doors.

Main Salon

The main salon is entered from the aft deck through an oversized water tight door.  ONWARD has an L-shaped settee with storage to port, a settee with storage to starboard, and a television/DVD combo for entertainment.  There are 6 large opening windows with new Levelor wood blinds (2018) to port, starboard and aft which provide natural light and ventilation for the saloon and galley.

Galley

The spacious horseshoe shaped galley is located forward of the salon on the port side.  The galley features:

  • Vitrifrigo 2-Drawer Stainless Steel Refrigerator (New 2018)
  • Vitrifrigo 2-Drawer Stainless Steel Freezer (New 2018)
  • Glass tile accent wall
  • Large opening port hole for light and ventilation
  • GE Microwave
  • Force 10 Marine propane Stove & Oven
  • Broan Trash compactor
  • Corian countertops
  • Two deep stainless steel sinks
  • Spectra Watermaker (needs repair)

Guest Stateroom

The guest stateroom is down 6 steps and to port of the companionway.  It includes two bunk berths, hanging lockers, the washer/dryer unit, and access to the engine room via water tight door. The innovative hull strakes make the engine room very spacious.

Head

The head is across the companionway from the guest stateroom on the starboard side.  It features a Raritan Atlantis Freedom toilet (rebuilt in 2019), a time- and hassle-saving Raritan Purasan Type-1 Marine Sanitation Device (new 2017), separate stall shower and sink with custom Corian counters.  There is a medicine cabinet and several lockers for storage.

There are two opening hull port-lights with storm shields that provide light and ventilation.

Master Stateroom

The master stateroom is forward of the guest stateroom up 3 steps in the bow of the boat.  It features a large queen berth, a television, and lots of lockers and drawers that provide plenty of storage.  Two hanging lockers.  The hatch above the bed and four opening port-lights provide good light and air.

The anchor locker is forward of the berth and is large and deep enough to accommodate over 400 feet of chain.

Pilothouse

The pilothouse is up 4 steps from the main salon.  The pilothouse includes a large settee and a pilot berth for those long passages. Twelve windows and two port lights provide excellent visibility.  The pilothouse has access to the Portuguese Bridge through two water-tight Dutch doors.

Stepping out to the protection of the Portuguese bridge you can access the boat deck on the starboard side of the pilot house. A mast and boom with electric winches can deploy the dinghy, but the current owners also installed a standalone lift specifically for the dinghy. The dry-stack exhaust runs to the top of the mast.
