Description

The Ultimate Live-a-board World Cruiser

This 48 foot boat has more space than most 60s—and, it's all on one level!

The Kadey-Krogen Whaleback is famous for its fantastic space efficiency, and with the same hull as the venerable, and efficient 48 North Sea.  Live on one level.  Cruise in the 360-degree pilothouse.

Huge Gourmet Kitchen — Salon Area for 12+ — Huge Back Porch — Perfect 360-degree View Pilothouse — Very roomy and accessible lazarette, engine room, and separate workroom.

Full Specifications

The Back Porch

Enter through a side gate or the full-sized transom door to find a gracious space for outdoor living.  This Kadey-Krogen signature cockpit area is fully covered for safety and shade comfort.  And the high-grade Rainier Glass enclosure keeps you warm, even in winter.  This is why we call it the Back Porch!

Grand Salon

Enter the salon through teak wood double-opening doors.  The Krogen 48 Whaleback is very unique in layout, offering unparalleled single-level living on a full width salon.  Sitting area is to port, while the galley and a large dining table is to starboard.  This makes for an expansive salon only found on 60-plus-foot yachts!  In a 48' yacht - there simply is no equal.

Grand Galley

Or is this more like, "The Chef's Kitchen?”  Look at that counter space!  This is TWICE the size of the standard Whaleback galley.  Equipment includes:

  • GE: 11cu. ft. Refrigerator/Freezer with Teak door inserts.
  • Force 10: propane 3-burner stove/oven
  • GE: convection microwave oven
  • Broan: trash compactor
  • Kenmore: dishwasher
  • A large Stainless Steel sink

Guest Stateroom & Office

The guest stateroom is to port and doubles as a very usable office.  There is a large desk and library forward offering abundant storage.  The settee pulls out to make into a double berth with a single pullman above. The guest head is across the hall.

Master Stateroom

The  master stateroom forward is an airy, high ceiling space.  And don't worry about listening to wave slap, the Krogen hull has no chines, so it's silent when you sleep!

The master also features a center-line queen berth, TWENTY drawers, and two hanging lockers so large that we dare call them closets.

The large ensuite head includes a bathtub/shower combo, and storage around the vanity.

Two Bathrooms
  • VacuFlush fresh water toilets in master and guest heads with recently new hoses (2011)
  • Bathtub & shower in master head
  • GE: stacked washer/dryer in guest head.
  • Abundant storage in both heads
  • Separate shower in guest

Pilothouse

Up a few steps, the Pilothouse offers true 360-degree visibility.  There is an L-shaped settee with a teak hi-lo table that converts to a double berth.  This is a command center that is truly livable and will provide the utmost in creature comforts for your guests, while underway.  And when docked, this is the perfect getaway spot for reading with a view, or a nap.

Boat Deck

Access to the decks are through two pilothouse doors that lead out to the Portuguese bridge deck, foredeck and anchoring station as well as the aft boat deck. You may also reach the bridge deck on what is now a seated lift from the Back Porch. (This can easily be converted back to ladder access.)

On "Summer Pasture,” one of the more well thought-out ideas was to mount the tender aft of the boat deck, thereby freeing up the ENTIRE expansive boat deck and making it a truly sun-filled party deck!

There is a deep freezer, and there are large storage boxes on this deck as well.  So load up that motorcycle, load up those kayaks & water toys.  This is living-at-anchor at its best!
