Record Attendance at Fall Rendezvous!

On September 21st, 2005, the normally quiet Port Ludlow Marina came alive with visitors from many ports of call. With 31 boats, the 17th annual Northwest KrogIn was a record setting event. It was a wonderful sight and many in the local community commented on the impressive view of the Krogen "fleet" all at one location. Friday and Saturday found everyone busy attending seminars including a session for those future Alaska-bound vessels. Half of the group had "been there, done that" and the other half are planning to go. The information passed on by the "veterans" will definitely help those who will be going in the future to plan a successful and enjoyable trip. A record 83 people attended the closing banquet held Saturday evening at the HarborMaster Restaurant with stories, spirits and friendships flowing into the evening. Special thanks to Dave Pike and Ann Purvis for planning a terrific event.

Not to be outdone, the Krogen Cruisers held their annual rendezvous October 6-9 at the Calvert Marina in Solomons, Maryland. Despite the remnants of Tropical Storm Tammy, a record 42 Krogens made it to the event. There was a full agenda of interesting topics ranging from chart plotters to diesel engines to marine weather to medical needs while cruising and the ever popular 'Tools and Gadgets' displayed a wide array of clever ideas for cruisers. Despite the rain, Al Sheetz cooked up his traditional Oyster Stew and Dennis Maud was again at his grill cooking some 70 pounds of beef tenderloins for the hungry crews. Special thanks to Pam and John Loving for planning this record setting rendezvous.
