Kadey-Krogen Yachts Celebrates 30th Anniversary in 2007

This year marks the 30th anniversary of trawler yacht builder Kadey-Krogen Yachts, with 550 vessels launched since 1977. 'The tradition continues, and the celebration begins,' announces John Gear, Kadey-Krogen president. 'During 2007, we aim to showcase our legacy of capability, liveability, family and value, and to further our mission of building the finest full displacement production trawler yachts in the world. And, with our enthusiastic group of owners, everyone should have a lot of fun along the way!'

The late naval architect James S. Krogen and Art Kadey founded the company to build the venerable Krogen 42' which became a classic in the passagemaking world. This breakthrough yacht featured a tri-level interior design plus displacement-to-length ratios that proved optimal for both long distance and coastal cruising. The precedent-setting Krogen 42' introduced an ingenious end-to-end hull symmetry, with a fine entrance and a wineglass transom for an incomparably smooth and predictable ride. 'Our Pure Full Displacemento hull design and tri-level interior layout continue to be our mainstay as we incorporate new technologies and introduce new configurations and improvements,' says Larry Polster, Krogen vice president.

Today's company is owned and managed by Gear, Polster, and Vice President of Operations Tom Buttonnall of whom have owned Krogen yachts and been liveaboards along the way. James S. Krogen's son, Jimmy Krogen, is the company's staff naval architect and helps ensure that current production (a 39', 44', 48', and a 58') as well as future yachts remain true to his father's overall concepts.

Anniversary celebrations will take place throughout the year at Trawler Fests and boat shows, with a grand bash at the Krogen Cruisers' owner group Rendezvous taking place October 4-7, 2007, at the Calvert Marina, Solomons, MD. More details will be available at

'Thirty years is quite a milestone. Kadey-Krogen pioneered the concept of the liveaboard family trawler yacht. Krogen yachts were cruising the world before many of today's builders even existed,' says Polster. 'And as we cruise into the next 30 years, we will continue to be guided by our core values of capability, liveability, family and value.'

'Everyone should live their dream,' says Polster. 'Life is too short not to. Our trawler yachts enable their owners to fulfill their dreams.'

Kadey-Krogen Yachts, headquartered in Stuart, FL, has sales offices near Annapolis, MD, and in Seattle, WA.
