Ship's log of Krogen 39 Dream Catcher: From Broughton Island Archipelago near the North end of Vancouver Island
Fog, again, the first ferry whistle at 6:30 or so wakes us and we leisurely ready ourselves for another day of questionable cruising weather. By 8:00 we see Shaw Island to the East and we push off for Canadian waters. San Juan Channel has good visibility and the fog dissipates as we travel to the North West. Abandoning our original plan, we clear customs at Bedwell Harbor and continue on to Ganges on Salt Spring Island. Ganges is a busy artsy community with lots of tourists in the summer. A good place to pick up groceries, drinks and Canadian cash. Speaking of cash, I tried to enter the Bank of Montreal to trade some greenbacks and was met with a sign " Closed due to hold up"! Wouldn't you know we would arrive 30 minutes after the only known bank robbery on Salt Spring Island? After finding another bank, the fishing license distributor and the provincial liquor store, we shoved off for Montague Harbor. The afternoon was beautiful for cruising with many boats making their way in and out of Ganges harbor. We crossed Trincomali Channel and anchored in our favorite spot in the Gulf Islands, Montague.
