The Voyage of Krogen 39' Sofkin II: Travel posts on the way to Trinidad
Sent February 23 from Salinas, Puerto Rico
We arrived in Luperon, Dominican Republic, the beginning of February. What a great spot to spend a week or year. Really friendly people, beautiful scenery, good fairly inexpensive restaurants and COLD local beer. Just don't touch the water in the harbour. We did the tourist thing: rented motorcycles, went to a mountain stream masquerading as a waterfall, swam upstream pulling on ropes, climbed ladders and jumped down. It's the only waterfall I've ever been to that brings in El Presidente beer on the back of a donkey. At our going away dinner, a wonderful couple from Ottawa we'd met in the Turks and Caicos wrote Janet her own limerick.
There was a young lady named Janet
Whose plan was to travel the planet
One day in September
She and her mentor
Sat down and proceeded to plan it.
There was a cool guy named David
Who at fifty said he had made it
One day with his muse
They decided to cruise
And together these two were intrepid.

We've been in Puerto Rico for ten days and we're ready to move to the Spanish Virgin Islands of Vieques and Culebra, and then on to St. Thomas to meet my son Jeff for a week.
