Today’s generation of Kadey-Krogen trawler yachts results from a 39-year heritage of innovation and more than 600 yachts built. Headquartered in the United States with corporate sales offices spanning coast to coast, Kadey-Krogen Yachts now has their sights set on steadily increasing its presence throughout Europe. To introduce the brand to new markets in 2016, the company has established representation in Scandinavia through Denmark-based sales agent DBC Marine.
DBC Marine, launched by Sven Petersen in 1967, operates as a European sales agent for a number of worldwide yacht builders. Sven is joined in business by his son, Henrik Petersen, and maritime engineer Per Thrane. DBC Marine has its main office near Copenhagen and sub-dealers throughout Scandinavia in Norway, Sweden and Finland.
“The trend in boat buying these days is to purchase a fuel efficient yacht, and one that is spacious and homelike,” said Thrane, co-investor, DBC Marine. “Less and less, people are wanting a fast-moving fuel burner. The journey is the goal, not the goal justifying the journey. For all these reasons, we are excited to represent Kadey-Krogen Yachts, a renowned pure full displacement trawler manufacturer, in our part of the world. Ocean-capable, Kadey-Krogen is the choice of professional mariners and cruisers alike.”
Kadey-Krogen yachts, which range from 44 to 70 feet, are not unknown in Europe. With a design inspired by the rugged, sea-worthy ships of the North Sea, there are several Krogens actively cruising the Baltic and other regions now.
“Entering Europe is an opportunity to better serve our enthusiasts abroad and to continue to grow the cruising lifestyle in an area with so many favorable destinations for life on a trawler,” said Tucker West, Vice President of Sales, Kadey-Krogen Yachts. “As we begin this new chapter, I’m pleased to have found an agent relationship as regarded as the one we have with DBC Marine.”
