Kadey-Krogen 58 |
|
| |

The Krogen 58' is a passagemaker aimed at boaters who
truly enjoy the voyage as much as the destination.
Powered with twin 154-hp John Deere 6068TFM diesel
inboards, she claims a range of nearly 3,300 NM at 7 knots with her
1,760-gallon fuel capacity. At 10 knots, the 58 is said to make
1,280 NM. These numbers also take into consideration a 100-gallon
reserve and one-gallon-per-hour usage for the standard 20-kW
Northern Lights genset.
The 58's hull is solid fiberglass below the waterline
and is reinforced with Kevlar on the bottom of the stern. To enhance
stability, Kadey-Krogen added 7,000 pounds of encapsulated lead
ballast, but her superstructure is lightweight with Knytex and
end-grain balsa and Divinycell cores.
The same detail that went into her hull construction is
apparent in the 58's cherry cabinetry and walls. Cherry is also used
in a parquet pattern for the sole.
Long-range cruisers can voyage in comfort, as the 58'
offers a three-stateroom, two-head arrangement, with the forward
master featuring a queen-size berth.
